Truck Rollover in Corsicana, Texas

A one vehicle rollover just west of Corsicana around 12:40 a.m. claimed the life of one man early Tuesday morning.

Heath Dewayne Skinner, 25, of Corsicana was pronounced dead at the scene by justice of the peace Vicki Gray on FM 744 a few blocks from the city limits.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Dane Baker said Skinner, who was traveling in a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on the farm road, approached a curve in the roadway in excess of the posted speed.

Baker said Skinner lost control of the vehicle, took faulty evasive action and struck a utility pole. Skinner was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled onto its side. Skinner was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

Troopers Carlon Stapelton and Phil Stambaugh assisted Baker with the investigation. Baker was also assisted by Corsicana Fire, the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office and the Corbet/Oak Valley Volunteer Fire Department. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
