The driver of a black 1998 Mercury Mountaineer lost control of the vehicle as he tried to change lanes about 4:45 p.m., and the vehicle flipped over several times, before landing upright, according to police. All three of the passengers in the back seat were ejected. The driver, a front-seat passenger and two other back-seat passengers were taken to a local hospital where one is in critical condition. The third passenger in the back seat of the Mountaineer was taken to Houston Northwest Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mercury Mountaineer has the same rollover problems as does the Ford Explorer, since they are the same vehicle, just different options and model names. Mercury Mountaineer rollover accidents, like the Explorers will continue.
