New Mexico Man dies in Chevy Pickup Truck Rollover

Nov. 25, 2005 – A man heading home after thanksgiving celebration was killed less than a block away from his house. “You know he was like family too us, I loved him dearly, I am going to miss him a lot, especially my granddaughter, I’m sorry I am just so sad, it was so quick, so suddenly,” says friend Isela Holguin. Loved ones of 19-year old Joel Rayos re-visit the scene where the young man lost his life. Around 3-o-clock Friday morning.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies say he was driving Northbound on Opitz Road when he lost control of his 1997 Chevy pick-up. Though Rayos was wearing a seatbelt, the impact was too much for him to survive. “He was wearing his seatbelt; however the damage to the vehicle, there was a significant amount of intrusion into the drivers’ compartment of his vehicle.
