9/16/06- 15 Year Old Killed in Texas Rollover Accident
The DPS continues to investigate a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy in Roosevelt. DPS troopers say a Chevrolet suburban was traveling west on a service road behind the Roosevelt football stadium around 10pm last night.

Another car, traveling south at a high rate of speed, came around a curve and fishtailed in front of the SUV. The driver of the suburban, 18 year old Louis Ray Jones, swerved to avoid the car and rolled the Chevrolet Suburban. A 15 year old Kenneth Bryce Vineyard was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Jones was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Investigators are still searching for the driver of the other car. Source:http://www.kcbd.com/Global/story.asp?S5417778&nav=3w6y

Rollover/ Seatbelt Defect

Sometimes in a rollover, a seat belted occupant can become unbelted when the seat belt buckle either disengages, initially unlatches from inertial pressure or forces from a hit or slap of a body part to the back of the seat belt buckle housing. When this happens, a once safe occupant is free to be thrown or ejected from the vehicle. Additionally when a person is ejected, the police officer presumes the person was not belted without a careful and trained inspection of the seatbelt buckle, the nylon webbing or load marks on the D ring. Further on many vehicles a black box events recorder will record airbag deployment, speed, braking and seatbelt usage. Downloading the blackbox computer results will sometimes answers these important questions of what happened immediately before the accident or rollover.
