Auto manufacturer giant General Motors Co. (GM) is recalling thousands of vehicles that may either have seatbelt or seat frame issues, The Detroit News stated on May 12.

Reports revealed that some 469,000 later models of Chevrolet Malibus, many of which are in the U.S., have seatbelts that may lose their utility over time due to a faulty flexible steel cable. One of the 36 seatbelt complaints reported to GM resulted in a minor injury.

In the second GM recall, at least 52,930 pickup truck units of recent models were found to have seat frames that may suddenly move from their original position due to hooks that are not properly fit to the body. GM is not currently aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the faulty seat frames. GM dealers will address the issue by inspecting the affected vehicles and installing the appropriate parts.
