A rollover accident on I-225 left one man dead and five others injured. The roadway remained closed for several hours while crews worked to clean up the scene and investigate the accident.
When rescue crews were called to the scene, they found a Nissan Pathfinder upside down on the side of the road. The accident occurred as the Pathfinder attempted to merge into the middle lane just as another vehicle was merging into the middle lane.
The vehicles then collided and began to spin out of control. The second vehicle managed to come to stop on the shoulder while the Pathfinder hit the concrete barrier and began to roll, ejecting two passengers. The driver of the Pathfinder was pronounced dead at the scene while five others were all transported to the hospital. Accident investigators do not believe that alcohol was a factor.
