On July 9th, the Daily Reporter mentioned that GM is recalling over 28,000 Saab convertibles due to malfunctioning seat belt retractors.

Some 28,789 convertibles, all models made between 2004-2011, are reportedly equipped with defective seat belt retractors on the driver’s seat. GM explained that if the retractors suddenly break, the belt will malfunction and increase the risk of injury in emergency situations.

General Motors mentioned that they are not aware of any injuries that have been caused by the defect so far. GM dealers will address the issue by changing the defective retractors at no cost.
